Fed: Howard should tell the US the PBS is off the table: Labor

CANBERRA, Jan 20 AAP - Prime Minister John Howard should tell US trade negotiators
that Australia's subsidised medicines scheme was not up for negotiation, federal Labor
said today.

Nine senior Democrat members of the US Congress have written a letter to President
George W Bush expressing concerns that US trade negotiators had demanded changes to Australia's
Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) as part of a free trade agreement (FTA).
