NSW: Massive search for another missing fisherman
SYDNEY, Dec 24 AAP - A massive search is underway for a spear fisherman missing on
the NSW south coast while the search for two men feared drowned on the mid-north coast
has been called off.
Ian Williamson, 40, from Sandy Beach set out on a fishing trip near Coffs Harbour with
Greg Howland, 42, and his 12-year-old son Rory fron Nana Glen last Thursday.
The trio were reported missing on Friday and Rory's body was recovered on Saturday night.
But there has been no trace of the two men and police have suspended their search.
Search and rescue efforts have now switched focus to the south coast where water police,
patrol boats, helicopters and surf clubs are involved in the search for a missing spear
fisherman.
The man from the southern highlands walked into Boat Harbour waters at Bendalong yesterday
morning.
But when he failed to return home, his wife raised the alarm about 3pm (AEDT) yesterday
sparking a massive search.
It was suspended yesterday evening because of poor light but resumed at 7am (AEDT) today.
Authorities have so far found no sign of the man.
